Different title deeds are consolidated into the farm that will be sold as a unit.
The Montagu area is well known for the cultivation of a variety of fruit, and this is true for this farm as Grapes, Apricots and Peaches are cultivated on 48 ha. The Bulida Apricots are supplied to the Fruit Factory at Ashton. The Keisie, Supreme and Cascade peaches are normally dried and supplied to suppliers with whom a very good relationship was established over the years.
There are future plans to plant Golden Pride peaches as well on 0.8 ha - part of the redevelopment program that is constantly followed. The orchards are planted on good quality soil. Some of the orchards are young whilst others will come to full production in a year or two and some already in full production. The farm is effectively operated as a running business with all equipment and infrastructure in place. Vegetables such as tomatoes, broccoli, pumpkins, mielies, onions and watermelons for own use, was planted. This farm delivers grapes of high quality and evidence of this is the champion muscadel that was produced in 2010!!
The Keisie river winds through the farm and is crossed through drifts. The well-known State owned Pietersfontein Dam was build on the farm. It is managed by the Department of Water Affairs. Water is generally available from the river (when flowing); boreholes and some from dam which is the main source of water. Water from the dam is available 24/7 through a pipeline (own pre3ssure)to be used for irrigation. The other farm receives water through a pipeline from a Sunday evening to a Friday morning it offers approximately between 25 to 30 cubic liters per hour. The Orchards and vineyards are sufficiently irrigated through the various water pumps and systems on the farm. Exact detail of the capacity of all the boreholes and the size of the pump motors on the various farms (that will be sold as a unit) are available and vary between 7m3 to as much as 20m3 and between 4KW and 7 KW motors.
The infrastructure on the farm consist of two storehouses, the farmhouse, smaller cottages (for renting out) , labourer cottages. The farmhouse is quite comfortable with 4 bedrooms; 2 bathrooms; lounge, dining room, TV / Sunroom; kitchen, laundry and a separate braai / entertainment room. There is also 12 solar panels and a 10 Kw invertor and batteries.
Farming equipment include tractors, trucks and an electrical diesel pump and is sold together with the farm as a going concern.
All off above is a recipe for much success and this farm is just waiting for the right owner to continue with the same passion that is so evident on this farm.
