General: The owner has always followed a management program of stocking the veldt with only 65-70% of the carrying capacity and decreases livestock during drier spells to
prevent over grazing of the veldt. This management program has prevented the veldt from being over utilized and the rotational camp grazing system also prevents certain
camps from being over grazed.
The official stocking rate for the area is 1/36 large stock units which gives the farm an approximate 1000 plus ewe carrying capacity. The owner generally keeps 600-700
Merino type ewes on the farm.
