Bush Lodge in Dinokeng.
21ha bush lodge inside the Big 5 area of the DGR. Well, known and extremely popular. Your opportunity to take the road less travelled and unwind in the serene stillness of Dinokeng’s bushveld. During my tenure at Gauteng Conservation, I was instrumental in the development of the NEGI project which led to the establishment of the Dinokeng Game Reserve. I have in depth knowledge of the area as well as all the legal requirements in terms of the Regulations of NEMA necessary when establishing lodges or campsites and can provide expert advice in this regard should it be required.
The Dinokeng Game Reserve was officially opened on 11 September 2011 and with the recent introduction of black rhino and spotted hyena has become a fully-fledged Big 5 game reserve. The
DGR has post-Covid become an increasingly popular wildlife destination for frustrated urbanites seeking to escape to the wide open spaces of Africa. The proximity of the DGR to urban areas as well as the lure of the Big 5 has attracted many a new visitor to the area and these have now become repeat “offenders” visiting the reserve at every opportunity.
A wide variety of locally indigenous and mature bushveld trees (amongst others Terminalia, Senegalia, Combretum and Dombeya) create a shady and restful atmosphere. Among these, the lodge and campsite is nestled to achieve a sense of intimate privacy. The lodge is a 16 fully equipped 4 star self-catering tented bush camp (canvas safari tents, log cabins, camping sites, a cottage as well as a residence/manager’s quarters). Activities include guided safari’s and bushwalks.
The accommodation includes the canvas tented area with a luxury safari tent, tented cabins, a family tent camp (3 x 2 sleeper tents, 2 x family tents), 2 log cabins and a 2 bedroom cottage with kitchen, bathroom (bath, shower, toilet and vanity). Lapa with service area and swimming pool; boma with braai and kitchen facilities. The campsite has 6 privately sited camping stands (each with water and electricity and private ablution (shower, toilet and vanity). 2 x wilderness stands for the brave at heart.
The manager’s residence has 3 bedrooms (with built-in closets, ceiling fans), living area (with ceiling fan), dining room (with ceiling fan) and open plan kitchen with ample wooden cabinetry, wooden and granite countertops. Both the kitchen and dining room open unto a covered porch. Carport for 14 vehicles, double garage with workshop. Solar panels with battery and invertor (5kW). Strong borehole, water tanks, more than 2ha fenced with Big 5 proof fence. Variety of moveable assets included.
Legal requirements are being addressed – the EIA in terms of NEMA is in the process of being finalized, consent use approved by Tshwane. Financials are available (only for serious prospective buyers).
