This is one of the original farmhouses in the district, built when the Settlers established themselves in Lower Albany.
The HOUSE on this property has a wrap-around stoep, hundred year-old trees, a well-established orchard in a dry river bed, and 100 000 litres of rain-water reservoirs. It has a view that stretches to the lights of Makhanda, formerly Grahamstown, on a clear night.
There is not a roof to be seen, yet the neighbors' are only a few hundred metres away. There is silence on a still night, stars in the sky, uncontaminated by light-pollution, this is living off the grid if you choose that.
The original front doors with old glass fittings are still here. the original worn transition strips between rooms are still in place. Thick walls that keep the house cool or warm

The stoep has been partly enclosed to extend the bedroom and lounge areas, yet the original exterior doors remain.

The scullery off the kitchen has space for a dishwasher and a freezer. It opens on to another stoep-area, and this one catches the morning sun. A perfect place for the morning-cup of coffee and reading the newspaper.
The lounge is large and spacious, with a sash window, exterior shutters, many plug-points. With the original stoep-pillars remaining, there is a dining area, and a potential office-space provided by the stoep-enclosure.
THE COTTAGE
This has been recently renovated.
The open-plan lounge/dining/kitchenette now has a dry-wall to privatize the bedroom.
There is an en-suite shower-room with toilet and basin.
A potential 2nd small bedroom leads off the bedroom, with a dressing-room as well. An exterior door leads on to the deck.
The TV room/sunroom/2nd lounge has sliding doors to the garden, and opens on to the deck, with beautiful views of the orchard and the lands.
It has its own security system, driveway and carport, next to the largest and oldest wild-fig trees in Bathurst.
